A DAY AT THE COMPOUND
Full Day
Be a Gambian for a day - an Ecotourism day to Sinkiliba Funi Bessi, with option for overnight stay
Bessi is a Jola village, where the 400 inhabitants live in the traditional African way. Located 50kms east of Brikama, the extended families of Bessi own cultivated land and rich forest that serves as both medication and a natural water reservoir.
It represents a wonderful opportunity to discover and share the African way of living this we call Ecotourism, where you will experience typical African cuisine, dances and sacred rituals.
The villagers will invite you into their homes, which are built
with local materials. The furniture and decoration of the rooms give an authentic African atmosphere.
Take a cart ride and walk to the magnificent secret tree, bird watching along the way. You will also have the opportunity to attend a batik and dye workshop and visit a house to learn traditional
African cooking, then taste locals meals served in traditional or European style.
Sinkiliba Lodge also has six African–style huts for residential visits, with good amenities, offering comfort, space and relaxation.
This is the real Gambia - a tour you will long remember, with its fascinating culture and smiling, welcoming faces.
